We are Mind Body Pain and Anxiety Clinic
While everybody’s journey into, and out of, pain and anxiety is unique, at Mind Body, we understand what that experience is like.
Our founder, Trevor Shipton, experienced chronic pain and associated anxiety for decades.
After his pain reached extreme levels with absolutely no relief in sight, Trevor began a search for complementary ways he could heal from the inside out, rather than simply relying on the outside in approach that modern medicine focuses on.
The Pain and Anxiety Relief programs that we offer are a condensed version of Trevor’s trials and tribulations and have been designed to kickstart your journey to good health. Our programs provide you with the individual attention, tools, and techniques you need to get back to good health and re-engage with life fully again.
Trevor Shipton has qualifications in Strategic Psychotherapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, and the Buteyko Clinic Method, and has trained with world-leading therapists such as Dr Michael Yapko, Dr Stephen Gilligan and Gordon Young.

From Happy Customers
Since working with Trevor my attitude towards life has changed in all the best ways. Over our time together he has helped me integrate positive coping mechanisms, new perspectives, organisational skills, and is able to challenge me in a respectful way. I chose to work with Trevor because of his kind yet direct approach. He has a natural ability to relate, sympathise, and connect with a diverse group of people. I cannot recommend him enough!

Before my sessions with Trevor, I constantly allowed my self-limiting beliefs get in the way of the big dreams I had for myself. If it wasn’t for Trevor, I wouldn’t be embarking on the biggest project I’ve ever sought to accomplish!
He has given me the support and tools I needed to believe in this dream of mine and truly feel the purpose of it in every step of the journey.

I highly recommend Trevor. He is professional, knowledgeable and made me feel completely at ease.
After our session I felt less anxious and more relaxed.
I still use the recording of our session if I need to help me feel less anxious.

Strategic Hypnotherapy Treatment for Pain Relief Sometimes pain just doesn't seem to move on. Instead, it moves…
Anxiety is an emotion we all have access to, and it plays an integral part in our lives. Small doses of it at the right time can help us deliver the perfect presentation, ace a job interview, or even pluck up enough courage to ask out that special person we think is “the one”.
FAQ
Traditional talk therapies will delve deeply into your past and attempt to identify why you are like you are. Strategic Psychotherapy, on the other hand, takes who you are now and helps you become who you want to be. It is future focused rather than past obsessive.
Daydreaming is a state of focused absorption, where the world seems to fade away and your inner thoughts become your predominant experience.
Meditation is a state of focused absorption.
Mindfulness is a state of focused absorption.
You can also enter a state of focused absorption when you watch a movie, read a book, or even when you are driving.
It is important to point out that Clinical Hypnosis is a highly subjective experience and varies significantly from person to person. The way that you experience hypnosis may be different from the way that somebody else experience hypnosis. and that is ok, because there is no way to “do it right”! Some people report feeling incredibly alert and focused under hypnosis, and others report feeling extremely relaxed, like they just got out of warm bath. Either of these experiences, and everything in between, are perfectly acceptable because there is no right way to experience hypnosis.
The vast majority of breathing programs in the world focus on taking big breaths, which is actually the worst thing you can do for most common ailments, such as chronic pain, anxiety, and asthma. As a society we are chronic over breathers and this can be a large part of why we get sick, and quite often, the sicker we become, the more we breathe.
The technique we use (Buteyko) aims to decrease the oxygen we breathe, which allows our bodies to gain an equilibrium most of us don’t even know exists. The exercises are very simple and will also help your increase your focus.

You will then get to sit back and relax as you receive hypnotherapy (we are told this is the best part of our sessions!), where all you will need to do is listen.
Then we will discuss what actions need to take place over the coming fortnight to ensure your healing continues.
Please be aware that for our sessions to be successful, you will need to ensure that during your sessions you are on your own in a quiet space. This means nobody knocking on your door, no dogs or cats that might interrupt our chats (as much as we love animals). Your sessions should be treated as an integral part of your life during your program, so take the necessary preparations to ensure you will benefit from them fully.
Psychoanalysis (talk therapy) provided 38% recovery after 600 sessions
Behaviour Therapy provided 72% recovery after 22 sessions
Hypnotherapy provided 93% recovery after 6 sessions
Without a doubt, hypnotherapy, when used by a professional, is one of the most effective modes of therapy available today.

Hypnosis relies on accessing a perfectly natural state of focused absorption that we dip into each and every day (see the question ‘What is Clinical Hypnosis?” above), and it actually provides a way to provide you with control over various aspects of your very existence, such as your thoughts, feelings, and bodily functions, to a degree that you may never have thought possible.
Hypnotherapy requires your co-operation to be effective, and you will be in complete control at all times.
After the 6 sessions, appointments are made on a needs basis. For some, the 6 sessions are enough, and no further sessions are required. Others may require a longer period of time simply to let their body heal, and having a “refresher” once every month or two over the course of a year can really help solidify the gains we made in the first 12 week period, and ensure those gains remain long term.
- I understand where you are coming from. Pain and anxiety have been a part of my journey for decades, and it is now my role to help shorten the healing time of other people who are taking a similar journey.
- I have trained at the premier Hypnotherapy School in Australia, The Institute of Applied Psychology, which is the only school in Australia that teaches Strategic Psychotherapy. Whereas many schools offer weekend diploma courses and then shove their students out to private practice, The Institute of Applied Psychology Diploma spans a year and consists of over 1,200 hours of highly advanced material.
- The Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy Diploma I have earned from The Institute of Applied Psychology is Government Accredited.
If something does come up, and you need to cancel one of your appointments, please provide us with at least 48 hour’s notice. We will then do our best to reschedule you in at another time during the same week if a spot is available.
Therapist of the mind – there are over 800 listed therapies available in the world today, and this number is growing rapidly! While the aim of each therapy is to improve your situation, this aim can be completed in many random and sometimes contradictory ways. Therefore, we suggest that you only see one therapist of the mind at a time and give an appropriate amount of time for the individual therapy to work before you switch to another type of therapy.
Therapist of the body – Our programs are designed to be complementary to all physical therapies, so if you are seeing one or more physical therapists, then the programs we provide will only consolidate and improve the healing they can provide.
Many clients find that they can reduce or remove some or all medications as they complete their program, but this is a decision only you and your medical doctor can make. Whether you are completing this course or not, regular discussions with your medical doctor on the types and levels of medication you take are a sign of good care.
